Puteri Harbour gains global recognition by being awarded the FIABCI PRIX d’EXCELLECNCE, Runner-up Best Masterplan 2010

Puteri Harbour, the southernmost marina and waterfront development on mainland Asia is needled at the narrow-most point along the Straits of Johor that separates Singapore from the Asia continent. The location of this 688-acre premier integrated waterfront development at 1’25’N, 103’ 39.5’5 gives it a geographical significance as a sailing destination – it is the southernmost marina on mainland Asia.

Designed by world-renowned architect, Philip Cox of Cox Architects, Australia, the award-winning Puteri Harbout consists of residential, commercial and leisure precincts and projects along the around its scenic 10.8km coastline. Already operational are its public marina called the Puteri Marina, Satellite Clubhouse and Puteri Promenade, while construction has begun on a mega-yacht marina, a private marina, an indoor theme park, hotel and waterfront apartments as the water’s edge along the marina.

Puteri Harbour features premier waterfront residences with access to the open sea, ritay high-rise commercial and retail developments with breathtaking vistas and an eclectic mix of sidewalk café, restaurants and trendy entertainment outlets. Puteri Harbour’s relationship with the water is clearly defined in the design and planning of this award-winning waterfront development as views of the water – be it marinas or the coastline are held as something special and is designed to be enjoyed from many a vantage point. This design has resulted in breathtakingly spectacular views from all around the commercial and residential precincts.

Open space are in abundance in Puteri Harbour where themed gardens such as the Spice, Herb and Water Gardens are designed into the Promenade while green community areas are developed as part of the commercial precincts such as Laksamana Precinct’s Linear Park and Nakhoda Precinct’s Hill Park.

The jewel of Nusajaya, the Puteri Harbour waterfront development was conceived together with Johor state’s new administrative centre – the proud and majestic Kota Iskandar. Designed to enhance each other from both a visual aesthetic as well as a commercial activity point of view, the two developments share a symbiotic relationship.

The state authorities have been providing tremendous support to the developments in Nusajaya especially Puteri Harbour. Its approval and adoption of the urban development guidelines designed for Puteri Harbour is testimony to this. The state government also presents Puteri Harbour to visiting guests as part of its showcase of Kota Iskandar.

On hand to receive the award for Puteri Harbour was the Chief Minister of Johor, Dato’ Abdul Ghani Othman. “I am delighted that development in Johor has been and continues to be recognized as world barriers. The collaboration between the public and private sectors its driving the realization of these world-class developments and this is proof of the success of such collaboration,” he said after receiving the award in Bali.

As Chief Minister of Johor, Dato’ Ghani is instrumental in the dynamic growth and development taking place in South Johor. He is co-chair of the Iskandar Regional Development Authority or IRDA tasked with driving the success of Iskandar Malaysia, a metropolis in the making – three times the site of Singapore. Since its inception, Iskandar Malaysia has most in Malaysia but also enjoys the higher influx of foreign direct investment into Malaysia. Of its five flagship zones, one of the most active and prominent zones is Nusajaya, its kye driver.

Nusajaya – The World in One City

This 24,000-acre integrated urban development poised to be Asia’s new regional city is also the largest of such undertaking in Southeast Asia. Already the administrative capital of Johor, Nusajaya in the first city in Malaysia to be developed by the private sector.
